Commission Members
The Behavioral Health Commission consists of 12 legislative members, including seven from the House of Delegates and five from the Senate. Of the seven House members, at least two must be members of the House Committee on Appropriations and at least two must be members of the House Committee on Health, Welfare and Institutions. Among the five Senate members, at least one must be a member of the Senate Committee on Education and Health, at least one must be a member of the Senate Committee on Rehabilitation and Social Services, and at least two must be members of the Senate Committee on Finance and Appropriations. House members are appointed by the Speaker of the House of Delegates in accordance with the principles of proportional representation contained in the Rules of the House of Delegates, and Senate members are appointed by the Committee on Rules.
